Ishnu Por Ah is a Cenarion Circle realm RP guild active since February 5th, 2005. The following charter shall be separated into In-character, IC, and out of character, ((OOC)), sections.

*a large old Tauren hands you a lengthy missive written on a scroll of lambskin when you ask what Ishnu Por Ah stands for*

MISSION STATEMENT OF THE ISHNU POR AH

Ishnu Por Ah, means “For the Earthmother” in Taurahe. As such, our goals are as follows:
-To promote and defend the Ways of Por Ah, the Earthmother, and her Balance wherever we go.
-To promote, maintain and defend the lifestyle and lands of the Shu’halo, the Tauren people.
-To remain an independent entity, bearing no full allegiance to the Horde or Alliance. Having said that, due to current situations, our leanings are towards the Horde.
-To strive to never forget who and what it is we fight for.

((OOC -
-To promote the RP nature of our server.
-To balance the game with the roleplay and with real life.
-To do all this with the respect afforded to all players.))

We seek to accomplish these goals by doing the following -

Spending our days seeking the path of life which Por Ah, the Earthmother, has set before us. Including those under our banner who understand that following Por Ah’s guidance is the goal of the Ishnu Por Ah. By understanding that while some are born to fight, others are born to tend the hearth.

By making public any celebrations or events which will expose the people of Azeroth to the traditions and lore of the Shu’halo, the Tauren, people. In times of war and chaos, to remember ourselves and remind others what we fight for, the peace and safety of our homes and families, through the creations of events which bring them back home.

By offering the wisdom or our experience and training through counsel and teaching.

By promoting the ideas of unity and shared community. Creating a family. The Balance cannot be upheld by a single individual. It is a community of individuals working together and freely sharing their personal skills and knowledge with each other that binds together our society and through these acts best represent the Balance amongst Por Ah’s Children.

By creating an effective Fist of the Earthmother. A fighting arm ready to do battle when needed against those who would harm the Shu’halo, the Ishnu Por Ah, and disturb Por Ah’s balance. Building a network to defend the homeland of the Shu’halo, Mulgore and the lands which surround it. Being ready to take up arms against those who would destroy Por Ah’s creations. To assist any, no matter what their race or creed, willing to aid us in our causes, as long as they do not compromise our own vision of what it means to maintain Por Ah’s Balance.

The use of Fel magic and association with demons is prohibited among us and is to be purged as it is the very antithesis of the Balance. Slavery and abuse shall not be tolerated and dealt with accordingly. Servitude shall be done under contract.

We do all the above with honor, dignity and respect. Remembering that all people are the Children of the Earthmother, that we must celebrate their lives, offer them quarter, and allow all honorable deaths. That in the cycle of life and death we must all play our part to give as well as take.

((While we do wish to be a guild comprised of players who want and know how to play the game, we wish to be a roleplaying (RP) guild first. It is our belief that we can balance the game with the roleplaying and that they should, in fact, be integrated to support each other.

As an RP guild, most recruiting will require an IC interview or chat with any member allowed invite privileges. We seek people willing to find IC reasons to do in-game events or freely create IC situations, whether they are player created RP events, achievement runs or even raids. We seek members willing to RP at the drop of a hat, not just at events. We seek people willing to define when they are IC and when they are OOC through text conventions or other similar actions. We also seek people who understand when IC interactions become detrimental to gameplay and vice versa. Having said that, we do have openings for a few who are not heavy RPers but are simply good friends looking for a guild to call home.

We seek to do PvE content at a casual pace and to do so as a guild for the acquisition of achievements.

This will include raids and we encourage our members to group together for other content to acquire guild achievements alongside with supporting any RP events we or other RP guilds and players create.

In character, we would like to create a ‘defense squad’. Our premise is the protection of Mulgore from invaders. We wish our members to be ready to address a call for help when towns in and around Mulgore are hit. We hope to extend this to promote other guilds to get involved in defending towns and create reasons for our guild, IC, to get more involved in the PvP aspect of the game, hopefully leading to war games with other guilds either as defense practice or to settle rivalries and possibly rated BGs.

Be involved in the community as a whole. Support our RP community. Cenarion Circle is an RP realm. We should encourage that. Anyone who we find disparaging the RP community will be dealt with accordingly.

Respect your fellow players. Treat them, RP and non-RPer, fairly. “Don’t be a jerk” (BDAJ) is the general rule of the day. Foul and demeaning language is discouraged, ninjaing is not tolerated (and will lead to immediate removal from the guild upon burden of proof), and all disputes are to be dealt with by leaders and officers as quickly as possible.

Be willing to teach and promote. Be willing to share knowledge both in game and on the forums (IPA’s and WoW CC forums). Share stories, game tips, advertise events. Be involved in each other and the community.))

GUILD ACTIVITIES
To the best of our ability, we will have monthly meetings on or around the 15th of every month. On odd number months, meets will be for Ishnu Por Ah business only. Rituals for things such as new titles, the coordination of events and disputes to be settled by the meet’s council will be conducted at these meetings. On even number months meets will be public councils. These public meetings are meant to help coordinate with the community as a whole and to give others who wish to communicate with the Ishnu Por Ah under a formal platform a place to do so. They may also be used as a platform by Ishnu Por Ah to publicly share some of our rites and rituals with the public.

Regular war and hunting parties will be planned, to the best of our abilities, every week. This does not limit members to only those parties. Every member is free to hunt and war with whomever they like as long as it does not compromise Ishnu Por Ah’s ideals.

((Certain channels and chat are IC only. Brackets [ ] or parentheses (( )) are to indicate OOC communication in channels not explicitly deemed OOC.

Whether impromptu or planned, we would also like to see an RP event conducted at least once a week. They do not have to be on any regular day, but should be open to the public and advertised as such. They do not have to be extravagant. It could be something as simple as a fishing night or as elaborate as a scavenger hunt. The idea is to not only give IPA a regular RP platform, but to also try and keep RP random and not set just to particular days. Please, be creative. Do not wait every week for your guild leader to create an event. Be inspired and create one yourself.

Weekly, planned events for raidng and guild achievement runs will be posted on the Calendar. It is the member’s responsibility to respond accordingly if they wish to attend. It is our goal currently to be able to field 10 man raid content and to only do it one or two days a week. While we are not seeking to be perfect or hard-core, these are not fly by night attempts. To be involved in raiding, a player must know how to play, know how to die, and look to progress and improve.

Info on raids and instance runs can be found here.

Info on RP events can be found here.

Info on guild conduct can be foundhere.))

MEMBERSHIP
We are largely a Shu’halo focused group. Our membership, however, is not limited to Shu’halo. Almost any may carry the colors of the Ishnu Por Ah so long as they are willing to dedicate their lives to respecting our ideals. Some may need to prove themselves more than others, however.

There are two general roles to be played in Ishnu Por Ah, that of her Fist and that of her Hearth. Those of the Fist are those driven to defend and to be warriors. There focus is on hunt, war, and protection. Those of the Hearth are the caretakers. They keep strong the purposes of our heart by keeping ways to remind us of home and family. At times these two roles will mesh together when the need arises.

Currently, our ranks only include those races associated with the Horde. Should any Alliance feel they can be a part of our circle, it will be taken into consideration.

We ask the following to swear upon pain of death before being admitted among our ranks. Blood Elves must swear they resist their addiction to magic. Forsaken will denounce their allegiance to Sylvanas. Death Knights will swear freedom from the Scourge.

There is only one class of person NOT permitted into Ishnu Por Ah. Warlocks are forbidden as we do not wish to have their association with demons or the Fel magics tainting our cause.

Word of interest in joining Ishnu Por Ah can be sent to us through letter. You may also come to any of our meetings or events to personally express interest.

Invitation to the guild is conducted in two ways. The preferred way would be at a council meeting where the initiate can meet those attending before he is given the rites of the Traveler. The other method is through a personal invite by any Ishnu Por Ah trusted with the responsibility. Afterwards, however, the new member must meet with the leader of the guild to receive their blessing. Initial membership will be represented by the offer of a raven’s feather.

Your activity in the guild is the main factor in deciding your title and continued membership. Any new member who does not communicate a reason for long term absence will be removed of their association with us. Any member who creates problems among us will be brought before the Chief and dealt with accordingly and may include being removed. Any member above the title of Traveler will be given a reason if they ever face removal. And it would be appreciated if those who choose to leave Ishnu Por Ah, that they will give forth their reason for doing so.

((The Fist refers to the endgame and PvP aspects of our guild. The Hearth refers to those wishing to promote the RP side of the guild. As well as provide opportunities to help levelers and arrange for other guild needs and achievements not related to endgame.

There are three major reasons for removal from IPA. One, inactivity. Two, inconsolable disputes concerning a guild member, whether it is within the guild or someone else in the Cenarion Circle community. Three, disrespectful and rude behavior against the Ishnu Por Ah and the RP community.))

GUILD GOVERNANCE AND TITLES
Ishnu Por Ah’s basic governmental structure is based off the basic tribal structure of most Shu’halo. The leader, commonly known as Chief, is known as the Matriarch or Patriarch. The most trusted and accomplish among the Ishnu Por Ah are looked at as a council and the general populace are expected to contribute what they can to benefit the tribe as a whole.

((Ranks for players are given based largely on IC reasons, even for those who enter the guild for OOC reasons. The following rank descriptions will better explain.

Traveler and Remembered do not require authenticators. All other ranks require authenticators. This is a requirement to allow our guild members greater access to the guild bank.))

TRAVELER
Those who first enter into Ishnu Por Ah are known as Travelers. As a Traveler among the Ishnu Por Ah, your time with us will determine if you were guided by Por Ah, the Earthmother, to truly be among us. Travelers, like all among the Ishnu Por Ah, are free to participate in all we do. However, there are limits as to what responsibilities we will entrust you with until you have proven yourself worthy. Your life with the Ishnu Por Ah will be marked by the offering of a raven’s feather which is to be worn at all times among your person.

Tabards should not be worn as a Traveler. Should you prove to be a dedicated and trusted fellow, you will be given a tabard and honored with the possibility of two titles.

((The starting rank for all members. Your activity during your time as Traveler will determine if you will be raised to the next rank of Brethren or Oathbound. Any Traveler inactive for more than a month, without notice of your whereabouts, will be removed from the guild without cause. Guild bank access is extremely limited. You do not need an authenticator to join as a Traveler.))

BRETHREN & OATHBOUND
Gaining one of these titles shows you have shown dedication to our causes. It is with this honor that you will officially receive a tabard. You will have a greater voice in matters concerning the Ishnu Por Ah and more freedom to our stores.

The Brethren are those who are dedicated to the Ways of the Earthmother and the Ways of the Shu’halo (Tauren) people. They are the ones that consider Ishnu Por Ah to be their tribe and family, at the very least while they are away from their true ones. Brethren have the power to invite others to join Ishnu Por Ah. Brethren may gain the privilege of any other titles.

The Oathbound are those who may or may not be dedicated to the Earthmother’s Ways but have pledged loyalty to serve the Ishnu Por Ah. By verbal contract they are sworn to abide by all the commands given to them by the Ishnu Por Ah. At anytime that they consider those given commands unconscionable, then they may consider their contract with the Ishnu Por Ah severed. While serving the Ishnu Por Ah, they retain much of the same benefits as the Brethren. However, they may not invite others to join and the only other title that may be bestowed upon them is Champion.

((The general population ranks of the IPA. There are two major differences between the two ranks. First, is that Brethren is a rank open only to RPers. Oathbound are not required to be RPers, but is also open to RPers. The rank was developed to allow friendly players who wish to raid or game under our guild name as well as give RPers who do not wish to explicitly become “Earthmother Lovers” a way to join the guild. Non-RPing Oathbound are required to respect that this is a guild and a server for RPers and act accordingly. Second, Oathbound have only one option of promotion. That is to become Champion. The raid leader officer rank. Brethren have open promotion to any rank.))

HONORED
The Honored are the long time members who have become trusted in making overall decisions concerning the welfare of the Ishnu Por Ah. They are proven leaders or inspirations. Their title will signified with the gift and acceptance of a staff.

Along with invite privileges and more access to guild stores, they are permitted to handle guild disputes, promote any other members and recommend the removal of other members. Honored hold a stronger voice in the guild and are to be used as council by Ishnu Por Ah’s Chief, the Matriarch or Patriarch.

((These are essentially the officers of the guild.))

LOREKEEPER
((This is currently a title in flux. It may be changed to something which more appropriately fits possible changes made to the guild. I am essentially looking for this rank to in some way be an RP focused rank.))

CHAMPION
A distinct title among the Honored, Champions are proven leaders in hunt and war. They take command of such efforts on the field. Any inquiries in regards to such endeavors can be sought from a Champion.

((Raid leaders, PvE or PvP. They are the managers of IPA’s raid efforts. Along with all the privileges afforded to the Honored, they can decide who does and does not come to raids.))

KEEPER
One of the most responsible roles among the Ishnu Por Ah. The duties of Keeper are given only to one who the guild as a whole trusts unconditionally. For it is the responsibility of the Keeper to manage and guard the shared holdings of the Ishnu Por Ah.

MATRIARCH/PATRIARCH
The principal Chief of the Ishnu Por Ah. They are responsible for the overall care and livelihood of the family. The position is retained so long as a majority of the Ishnu Por Ah accept their rule. The Chief is to open any discussions which affect the majority of the Ishnu Por Ah to that majority. But overall, the final decision will be made by the Chief and adhered to. It is the responsibility of the Chief to name a successor or interim leader and transfer power should they decide to step down or be away for an extended period of time. Only the Chief can remove a member from Ishnu Por Ah.

REMEMBERED
The names among the Remembered are the beloved and missed. They hold a special place among the Ishnu Por Ah because of past contributions and/or the possibility is there for a return from their long travels.

((This rank is a placeholder for those whom we just cannot remove from the guild, even if they do not play anymore. They have no access to bank or any other privileges besides speaking in guild chat. Should any of the Remembered returned in game, it is required of them to answer this question. “What is the Password?” to ensure that they are not a hacked account. Only the Matriarch/Patriarch is permitted to return them to an active rank.))

((AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST. . . .Real life is more important than a game.

Application to the guild can be found here.))

This is the Guild's Charter as of February 20, 2011. It is subject to change at any time.

A little note as ter WHY we can't be a running around with warlocks.

Y'seen the rules fer Forsaken, Death Knights, and Blood Elves, an' how they's all required ta denounce their addiction, servitude, and possessions right?

The thing of it is, an elf CAN renounce their addiction, and fight it, and become free of it, and still remain who they are. Same for forsaken and their fealty to Sylvanas, and Death Knights, and their slavery to the scourge. Heck, Elven Sunwalkers are as much in An'She's light as their ShuHalo kin.... moreso than any human, dwarf, or draenei could ever be anyway.

A warlock though, because Ishnu is Ishnu, a warlock has to renounce their association with all forces fel and demonic. And, of course, once a warlock does that, they ain't really a warlock no more is they? Sure, they may still be a magic user, a master of arts elemental or arcane, but lacking that connection to the, let's not mince words, evil side of the mystical spectrum, well, it is what it is, or isn't in this case.

Now, I may be way off base here, but if some warlock WAS ta renounce their demonic ways, and swear to draw only from a purer power, in essence becoming a priest or a mage, or heck even a druid or shaman, we'd be more than welcoming. After all, ain't no way really ta show more comittment than that. But that's how it's gotta be. Red ain't come right out and said it, but, the long and short of it is, y'see, we're good. We stand in opposition to all that's evil, and until ya gives up evil, you can't be one of us.

(And no tryin ta git all sneaky on us neither. We's seen too much, and we'll know...)
